“My travel bug and my wanderlust made me apply to Granny Aupair and now I have been on Tasmania for three months. On three days a week I look after the two year old son Elliot of a German-Australian family, enjoy family life, the joint trips and excursions and my leisure time for further activities. I have not regretted my trip “to the other side of the world” for one second and It could be that this will not be my last trip as a replacement Granny.”

„Unfortunately the three months I was able to spend in this fascinating country, with its loveable inhabitants and the friendly Susann and daughter Fannie are nearly over. It was an interesting experience to live in a country for a while, whose alphabet you don’t understand (I already experienced this in China – but as a ‘guided tourist’!), whose language you don’t speak to begin with, but that can be acquired, especially as many natives speak English quite well. Life here is relatively simple and it brings to mind how privileged we live here in Germany. A breakdown of electricity, gas or internet is not unusual. The whole family has taken us up as belonging to their own family and we were spoilt with Georgian delicacies. You see, I really felt well with my small family! Thank you once again very much for the placement.“

“Through Granny Aupair I have the unique opportunity to live in Canada for a year. Every day I can spend in this wonderful country fills me with great thanks and pleasure. It is such a great pleasure to see little Mattis, who is now 20 months old, grow up. He is learning something new every day. We have a lot of fun together and the parents can go to work totally reassured, until we meet again in the evening and eat together. I wasn’t able to experience the phase of life between the first and second year so intensively with my own children and grandchildren as I was very tied up with work and family. Now I have the time and patience to see Mattis grow up. That makes me very happy and contented. With this in mind the financial part I paid to Granny Aupair is so little and not worth mentioning. Additionally the host family’s benefit is very large, as their children are looked after optimally and the Grannies’ life experience is worth its weight in gold.”

“I feel very well here in Phnom Penh. I have been here for nearly three months now and have not regretted my decision a single day. I especially like my work with little Armand. To experience the mental and bodily development up close and to have done my bit towards it, is really good. In my leisure time I like to visit museums, the old town of Phnom Penh or the wonderful royal garden with its palaces and little chateaux.

A very special experience was a wedding in the country, I was invited to. I just couldn’t get enough of this unimaginably beautiful blaze of colours. Dear Mrs. Hansen, as you can read I am very fine. The little one is enjoying our daily singing, playing and painting and his mother is looking forward to a happy son, when she returns in the evening. Everything is OK.”
