Granny Au pair Experiences

This is what our members say

Here our Grannies and families tell us about their personal experiences with Granny Aupair. Be inspired by Cambodian weddings, given away cuddly toys and lucky meetings!

"Even if one does not know the language: you can manage everything with hands, feet, whatever it takes"
Granny Annelie about her time in South Korea

After I had to cancel my flight date to Canada, I spontaneously contacted a family in Seoul. This then also worked out spontaneously, and I flew to South Korea. I had to realize that South Korea is a very special country and worth the journey.
The culture is totally different and the people there are very friendly and courteous. Even if one does not know the language: you can manage everything with hands, feet, whatever it takes. Thus I have also got to know this country and am totally open for further trips.

"During my time there I was part of the family"
Granny Astrid about her time in the USA

Following various contacts with different families, I felt quite close to two families emotionally. Finally I decided following my “gut feeling “and travelled to the USA for three months to a suburb of Boston on the east coast.
From the first meeting at the airport with the two small children and their mother it was totally clear: We suit eachother.

"It was love at first sight between the boys and me"
Granny Charlotte about her stay in Dublin

A short time after my becoming a member at Granny Aupair I discovered a family in Ireland on the website. As Ireland is my “dream destination” I hoped to hear from this family. Shortly afterwards I received a query from the family if I would like to look after their twins, two 20 month year old boys for three months. After a long phone call with Andreas, their father, I was sure that I would like to go to the family in Dublin.

My family consisted of an Irish mother (Engineer and violin player), German father (lecturer) and the twin boys then aged 18 to 21 months.
The family lived in North Dublin near a huge park with lovely playground.

"We all adore her"
Rachel, Mother from UK

In 2011 you introduced me to Dagmar and she came in the November. She stayed for many weeks and on and off over the past 4 years she has become not only an amazing friend to me but part of our family. She came to our wedding and we all adore her. Your service is amazing, you were just starting up then, you may remember our radio appearance!

Anyway this is a long overdue thanks.

“Great flexibility and the motto ‘it will work out somehow’ belong to Italian life”
Granny Maria (65) about her „second family“ in Italy

Four years ago I chanced to come across a newspaper-feature about Granny Aupair: I had already toyed with the idea to aid my knowledge of Italian with a longer stay in Italy and decided to try this via Granny Aupair. Following the start of my retirement, I started a first try to find a family in Italy.

"There will certainly be a next time!"
Granny Martina about her stay in England

At last the time had come: a whole free year streched in front of me! The feeling is unbelievable: You know that you have a year to do things, you always wanted to do, or would have done earlier, if it had been possible. I for my part wanted to travel to England.

“The time in Australia was an asset in all kinds of ways”
Granny Gudrun tells about her time in Australia

The time in Australia was an asset in all kinds of ways. I can recommend it to any woman who is open to new ideas and willing to take a step into the unknown and into a strange family, anyone who is flexible and tolerant, to take the step. The reward is a priceless treasure of experiences, family life and the beautiful feeling to be needed.

"I felt totally at home in my friendly and loving host family"
My Granny Aupair stay in Abu Dhabi

For a long time I already had the wish to leave my daily life and normality for a time and get myself involved in a totally foreign culture, with other people, with a totally different life. I had already heard of Granny Aupair but still needed some time to get my teeth into the idea.
