Granny Au pair Experiences

This is what our members say

Here our Grannies and families tell us about their personal experiences with Granny Aupair. Be inspired by Cambodian weddings, given away cuddly toys and lucky meetings!

„I am counting the months (still 20!) until my retirement”
Christiane (63), Granny Aupair in waiting

„I am counting the months (still 20!) until my retirement to then become a member. Many thanks for your letters – I can hardly wait. I am a globetrotter and probably cannot afford further trips after my 65th birthday. Granny Aupair would be the solution and it already makes me happy that there will be opportunities.”

„I thank God for giving me a second life. And I have started this second life with my trip to India"
Lucie (61) as Granny Aupair in India

“For me India was much more than just a trip as a granny. Something believed long buried was suddenly there again: Courage and thus a new self-confidence, to strike out once again, to re-organise my life. To find out where I really am standing in life, and especially if I can rise above myself."

„The family is very hospitable and very nice“
Maria, as Granny Aupair in Thailand

„Dear Mrs Hansen I just cannot thank you enough for having the fantastic idea of initiating Granny Aupair. I feel extremely well here. The family is very hospitable and very nice. The parents work so much that I am on my own during the day until both children return from school. This is usually between 15 and 17:00 in the afternoon. As I am very well able to keep myself busy, so this isn’t a problem for me. It would probably be more difficult for me the other way round:”

„The three children have become so close to my heart“
Dorothee (64) as Granny Aupair in Norway

„It was a very exciting time I was able to spend in Norway in a loveable family, with whom I will certainly stay in contact. The three children have become so close to my heart, that I am really curious about how they will develop. Norway is a wonderful country, in winter as in summer. It was also important for me to experience my own limitations.“

„I think learning something never stops, the same as dreaming“
Dietlinde (70) as Granny Aupair in Portugal

„This enterprise is an adventure. Adventures are – as always – incalculable and not always fantastic. I think learning something never stops, the same as dreaming. I am not disappointed but certainly a bit wiser as before my departure. "

„What I received back in thanks and sympathy in the Indian project was very moving”
Christa (64) as Granny in a women’s project in India

“My stay in the Indian project has personally given me a lot. What I received back in thanks and sympathy there was very moving, Due to the women’s poverty one is involuntarily confronted with questions like: What is really important in life and what do I really need? I was thus prompted to buy hardly anything this winter, as my wardrobe is full and everything seems to be there already. That in some cases the women have had very bad fates but still seemed always happy, extremely impressed me. One sees quite a lot in a different light after returning to Germany. I was a great experience, especially as in India “older people” still have a different standing than in Germany. “
