„In order to learn the English language a bit better, I spontaneously decided last year to apply as Granny Aupair abroad. Together with my husband I visited the chosen family in Nottingham beforehand, so that we could get to know each other. We found ourselves hitting it off immediately and I took Jessica into my heart at once. And thus I moved to Nottingham with bag and baggage. I felt very well in the host family, who involved me in their life immediately and took me with them everywhere. Be it a fete, a birthday party, a visit to friends or a trip to Germany, I was always part of it. Jessica, who was 18 months when I arrived in Nottingham is a very loving and friendly girl. I fetched her from kindergarten four times a week at midday ad if another child wanted to speak to me she immediately took my hand and said : “My Gerda!”. She accepted me from the start and became very affectionate. To improve my knowledge of English, I visited various courses in the morning. I got to know really great people from all over the world and was able to make great friends. With the exception that my husband could not be with me all the time, they were very nice and full ten months in Nottingham!”
