What I received back in thanks and sympathy there was very moving, Due to the women’s poverty one is involuntarily confronted with questions like: What is really important in life and what do I really need? I was thus prompted to buy hardly anything this winter, as my wardrobe is full and everything seems to be there already. That in some cases the women have had very bad fates but still seemed always happy, extremely impressed me. One sees quite a lot in a different light after returning to Germany.
