Newsletter Families - Maintaining languages and traditions with Granny Aupair
Dear Families,
A large number of Granny Aupair families in Europe and abroad are so-called "intercultural families", for whom it is important that their children have access to the values and traditions of their countries or cultures of origin. Their original language or mother tongue is an essential part of this, so that the children can find access to the roots of the cultures of both partners.
Granny Aupairs can help especially in view of language, but also regarding the teaching of traditions, by engaging with the children in as many ways as possible and thereby consolidating the language through play. This is best done through repetitive patterns in a variety of situations – playing games, doing handicrafts, singing, etc. In return, a Granny Aupair has the unique opportunity to explore the way of life in a different environment – whether abroad or in an intercultural family in her own country – and possibly also to learn the language, with free board and lodging in the family.
Seize the chance to invite a Granny Aupair to stay with you and thus bring a little bit of home into a foreign environment. Today we introduce you to three Grannies who would like to support a nice family as a temporary grandmother in the near future. You can see more Granny profiles in our online community
Very best wishes from

Empathetic and experienced: Granny Angela
Granny Angela (user name Angela W.) would like to help a family, preferably in a French-speaking country, as a Granny Aupair or companion from April. The 64-year-old former special educational teacher has worked with disabled people for many years.
The mother of three grown-up sons (including twins) loves cooking and baking and is also passionate about handicrafts. She also enjoys hiking in nature. In her profile she writes: "To improve my knowledge (of French) and with the skills of my professional life, I would like to better my French in the course of my au pair placement. Besides, I am looking forward to get to know another country in Europe."
