"From September to November last year I was a Granny in Bethesda (Washington D.C.). In the run-up this decision cost me a lot of strength and energy, I just had the jitters. Today I am very grateful I found the courage to take this step, I had a wonderful and eventful time and the experience was very important to me. I felt totally accepted within the family. Especially the two boys Max and Felix were fun for me and I coped well with them (so I think), even though I myself have no children. I supported the family as best as I could, and this was also fully recognized. I was needed. From my point of view Granny Aupair is the best way to get to know country and people. I was thrilled by the openness of the inhabitants.
A cosmopolitan city offers many opportunities, to spend your leisure time (of which I had plenty). There are hiking clubs I attended regularly. Twice a week, I attended a conversation club, which is offered free by the city. I always spent extremely entertaining and funny hours with like-minded people from all over the world there. Museums in Washington cost no admission - the range is enormous, as you can imagine. In the National Gallery of Art Europe is very close Once I even travelled with the ,Greyhound’, which has always been a childhood wish of mine. Incredible! I keep falling back into raptures. I could just go on telling about my stay. I can encourage all hesitating ladies to seize the chance! What could actually occur?”
