Newsletter Grannies - Not 48 countries – but countless new horizons

Dear Ladies,

The Football World Cup brings together teams from 48 countries – an impressive number. As a Granny Aupair, you may not visit all of them, but one thing is certain: as a Granny, you can discover the world in a truly special way.

Whether in a vibrant city, an idyllic seaside town, the mountains, or the countryside, every Granny adventure opens the door to new perspectives. You’ll experience different cultures, gain insight into family life from a fresh angle, discover local traditions, and build connections that often last long after your stay has ended.

Sometimes your journey may take you to the other side of the world; sometimes it may lead you to a neighbouring country or even another region within your own. Yet it is often the small differences in everyday life that leave the deepest impression: new routines, different celebrations, unfamiliar foods, or simply a different way of looking at life.

As a Granny Aupair, you are more than just a visitor – you become part of a family. You experience your host country from the inside: authentically, personally, and through encounters that no travel guide can offer.

Perhaps your next adventure awaits in France, Canada, Australia, or Sweden. Or perhaps you’ll discover a whole new side of a region you thought you already knew. Because the world is made up of more than countries – it is made up of people, stories, and experiences.

Be inspired and kick off your next adventure full of discoveries! Below, we’d like to introduce you to a few more families who’d love to team up with you.

Best summery wishes

Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair-Team

Urgently seeking a companion in the French Alps

Grenoble, the ‘capital’ of the French Alps, surrounded by picturesque mountains, is itself the ‘flattest’ city in France.

As a city of art and culture, it boasts a beautiful old town with lively squares, townhouses and shopping streets, as well as numerous parks and gardens.

Here a couple (user name Riegel) are looking for a lady with a driving licence, preferably from 5 July, to be a companion to their 96-year-old mother, who lives in the couple’s home – for example, to read to her, take her for walks and keep her company. The mother is still able to look after herself independently – with a little help – but has lost her short-term memory.

The family also has a cat. The Granny will be provided with a lovely room with an en-suite bathroom in a large house in the city centre. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

America’s Heartbeat

The White House, the Capitol, fascinating museums and beautiful parks in the ‘Great White City’, Washington D.C., are just waiting to be discovered by you.

In the vibrant American capital, a family of four (user name LauraWashDCMama) with two sons, aged 4 and 1, would like to welcome a fit, experienced temporary grandma who ideally speaks Spanish.

The older boy is at nursery until late afternoon; the younger one is currently with a nanny until 5.00 pm but will soon be starting pre-school, so the Granny would have plenty of time to explore this exciting metropolis and/or take a language course. A lovely room with a private bathroom in a house in the city centre will be provided for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

Different countries, different people, different customs…

As a Granny Aupair, you’ll be joining a new family where the rules may sometimes differ from those you’re used to. You should find out whether they’d welcome any suggestions for improvement. You’ll only be with the family for a short time, so you shouldn’t generally question their existing rules, even if you might do things differently yourself. Try to adapt to the family and their way of life. There’s a reason why things are the way they are. You can find more tips for Grannies here
