Newsletter Grannies - May brings new beginnings

Dear Ladies,

We all know that inner voice – the one that would much rather curl up comfortably on the sofa with the remote control in hand. It’s easy to find reasons not to do something. And often there are negative voices around us, quick to dismiss any plans to try something new.

Setting aside feelings of guilt and obligation, questioning long-held values and inner conflicts, and becoming aware of your own dreams and needs – and then actually living them – is not easy. But if you want to change old habits, you have to take the first step.

Anyone who manages to overcome their own doubts, reservations of others, and the pull of comfort has already taken an important step toward becoming a Granny Aupair.

Many of our families, both near and far, are looking for a loving temporary Granny to join them soon or later this year – someone who can enrich everyday family life with warmth, experience, and wisdom. We are introducing two of them below. And you can find many more families from all over the world in our online community

Best wishes for the month of May

Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair-Team

Fantastic French Riviera

Nestled in the hills of Antibes between Nice and Cannes on the beautiful French Riviera you can find the medieval town of Biot. The charming French borough has the feel of an artists‘ colony with its open workshops, markets, museums and galeries.

As from August or September  a pilots’ family of five (boy 14 and two girls 11 and 9) plus cat with the user name Audreyghi is looking forward to a dynamic, sporty, proactive temporary grandma, with a driving licence, who speaks English, perferably for a longer period to help the parents, who are away from home several times a month. This would leave the Granny with enough time to discover the beautiful surroundings. All the children go to school until the afternoon.

The Granny would be provided with an own studio with kitchen and bathroom next to the family’s house on the outskirts of Biot as well as a car. The travel costs will be taken over in full.

Diamond City in Flanders

The Belgian city of Antwerp, in the region of Flanders, is known as the birthplace of the diamond trade in Europe, but is also regarded as a fashion paradise. The city charms visitors with its narrow old town streets and numerous small cafés. Not far from this fascinating port city, near the Dutch border, you can find the small municipality of Wuustwezel.

As from September a pilot/cabin attendant‘s family of four with the user name Fabienne Sch. with two children, boy 13 and girl 2, would love to welcome an experienced, loving temporary grandma, with a driving licence who ideally speaks Englisch and/or Spanish mainly for the little girl. The boy goes to boarding school and only spends two weekends a month at his mother’s house. The little girl goes to nursery until the afternoon, so the Granny would have enough time to explore the surroundings and/or visit an language course.

A lovely own apartment next to the family’s house in a rural setting is waiting for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

Be sure to include engaging photos in your profile. Remember that it is often the whole family, including the children, who decide on a granny (and vice versa). A variety of photos in different settings (e.g. whilst travelling, with a dog, a cat, or your own grandchildren) are certainly helpful here in giving a first impression. Profiles without a photo are rarely viewed.
