Newsletter Grannies - Preserving language and traditions as a Granny Aupair

Dear Ladies,

Many of our Granny Aupair families are what we call ‘intercultural families’. They want their children to have a lively connection to the values and traditions of various countries of origin. The mother (or father) tongue is particularly important here: it is the key to one's own roots and connects generations.

As a Granny Aupair, you can make a very special difference here. With your life experience, your language and your stories, you give children a piece of their cultural heritage. Whether reading aloud, playing, doing crafts or singing – language is learned quite naturally through shared, loving rituals.

At the same time, a wonderful opportunity opens up for you: with free board and lodging, you become part of a family and get to know a new environment intensively – further abroad or closer to home. You may even discover a new language or culture for yourself.

Take advantage of the opportunity to find a temporary home as a Granny Aupair and enrich families with your heart and experience. Today, we are once again introducing three families who are looking forward to welcoming their temporary grandma soon. You can find many more profiles in our online community

Best regards from

Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair-Team

‘Northern Europe's cosiest capital’...

...is how Copenhagen is often described. The Danish metropolis has so much to offer – royal history, diverse sights, gastronomy, architecture and design, as well as a focus on sustainable living and lots of ‘hygge’.

Here a German-Italian family of momentarily five with the user name susan.francesco (3 sons, aged 14, almost 2 and a newborn – the 4th son is currently on an exchange programme in the States) is looking for a baby-experienced, capable temporary grandmother, preferably Italian-or German-speaking, but no must,  to help out with the two little ones in particular.

The older boy goes to school until the afternoon, and the toddler goes to nursery until the afternoon. The Granny will have a nice room with her own bathroom in a large house on the outskirts of town. Travel expenses will be partially covered.

In the heart of the Garden State

The Central Jersey region in the so-called US-Garden State offers a wealth of wonderful experiences – ideal for anyone who loves nature, cuisine and authentic encounters. Working farms, charming roadside stalls selling fresh produce, wineries and distilleries characterise the landscape.

From the beginning of April, a German-American family (user name Gurugura) with 8-year-old twin sons, a 7-year-old daughter, plus a dog and cat, would like to welcome a calm, structured, empathetic temporary grandma with a driving licence and safe driving skills to the small town of Mays Landing in Hamilton Township. Ideally, the Granny Aupair should also have experience with ADHD and Asperger's autism (one son has this diagnosis).

The children go to school until around 3 p.m., so the Granny would have plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings. A large room in a spacious house in a rural setting will be provided. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

Beautiful lake region in South Bavaria

The charming market town of Dießen is located directly on the shores of Lake Ammersee in Bavaria about 40 kilometres south of Munich. Situated near the Ammermoor nature reserve you can even enjoy views of the Alps. The small town has been shaped by a vibrant artists’ colony since the middle ages and remains a center for contemporary artistic creativity, with a craft tradition dating back to early medieval times.

Here a small pilot/stewardess family with a five year old son and the user name Ammerseeliebe would love to welcome a loving, patient, experienced Granny Aupair with a driving licence to give the flight shift working parents a hand. It would be lovely, if the Granny maybe also has experience with special needs, as the little boy has Down Syndrome, but it is no must. He attends kindergarten until 14:00 every day.

A large room in a big house in a rural area is waiting for the Granny. Travel costs will be covered in part.
