Newsletter Grannies - „It takes a whole village“….

Dear Grannies,

An African proverb says: ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ In our Western world, this principle has largely been lost, as author Michaeleen Douclef observes. While children in indigenous cultures still grow up in multi-generational households as a matter of course, families in our society have often shrunk to one or two parents and a few children – grandparents or relatives rarely live nearby.

But it doesn't have to be a whole village. Just a few experienced hands can make all the difference – for children and parents alike.

This is exactly where Granny Aupair comes in: families receive support in their everyday lives, while the temporary grannies contribute their experience, care and joy – and often get to know new cultures in the process.

Today, we would like to introduce you to three families who would soon like to welcome a loving temporary grandmother. And there are many more families waiting in our online community for a kind soul to enrich their lives with experience and warmth.

Very best wishes from

Your Michaela Hansen and Your Granny Aupair-Team

Think carefully about what would suit you as a Granny:

Are you good at keeping yourself occupied (important if the family lives further away or in the countryside) or do you prefer a lively environment? Do you prefer city or country life, or would you simply like to try something completely new? These circumstances should also be taken into account when making your decision.
