Dear Grannies,

Again and again, we hear from Grannies who share their enthusiasm about the wonderful time they’ve had abroad. From Australia to Abu Dhabi, Italy, France, the USA, and Mexico – our Granny Aupairs return home with priceless memories and experiences as souvenirs from all over the world. This perfectly reflects the Granny Aupair philosophy of cultural exchange. Beyond the usual tourist programs, our temporary Grannies immerse themselves deeply in a foreign culture and environment, experiencing it in a unique way through family life.

Our host families are equally enthusiastic about the concept. Still, misunderstandings can sometimes occur – for example, regarding pocket money or a Granny’s responsibilities. Expectations on both sides can occasionally be too high. That’s why we want to emphasize once again: Granny Aupair is not an employment agency. The term au pair comes from French and means “reciprocity.” We remain true to this original spirit.

As a Granny, you become part of a family for a set period of time, acting as a temporary grandmother, or you support a social project while integrating into everyday life in a different culture. Language barriers, unfamiliar customs, and cultural differences may pose challenges for both sides. But these challenges are also opportunities: a chance for personal growth, deeper understanding, and the joy of discovering yourself in a whole new way.

Hudson Valley near the Big Apple

The majestic Hudson River, picturesque main streets, first-class shopping, and historic houses and gardens: just 50 kilometres from New York City you can find the community of Valhalla in the beautiful Hudson Valley in Westchester County.

Here, a small American-Azerbaijani family of doctors (username Sariyevam) with a one-year-old daughter is looking for a warm-hearted, reliable temporary grandmother with a driving licence and experience with small children to support the parents, who both work as doctors on shift duty. 

The little girl attends nursery full-time, so the Granny's help is mainly needed early in the morning, in the evening and sometimes at weekends, leaving her plenty of time during the day to explore the area and/or take a language course. A lovely room in a large flat in a rural setting awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

Moselle Valley between Luxembourg and Germany

Another beautiful river valley, but this time in Europe: Castles, vineyards, Roman architecture and the fantastic Moselle valley characterise the Trierweiler border region in Rhineland-Palatinate in South-West Germany. Located exactly between the Roman city of Trier and the cosmopolitan and exciting capital of Luxembourg, the region offers a wide range of leisure activities.

From the beginning of October, a small family (user name: Familie_IMT) with a 3-year-old daughter would like to welcome a loving, flexible temporary grandmother with a driving licence who also enjoys cooking, primarily to help out the mother. The father is often away on business for long periods as a pilot. The little girl attends forest kindergarten until the afternoon, so the Granny will have plenty of time to explore the fascinating surroundings.

A beautiful large room in a spacious flat in a rural setting awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in part.

Mountain Paradise in Austria

The idyllic resort of St. Koloman on the high plateau of the Austrian Salzach Valley is located 30 km south of the festival city of Salzburg, Mozart’s childhood home. The small mountain village is near the beautiful Seewald Lake and surrounded by picturesque nature.

Here an actor‘s family of four (user name Sima G) with girl, 11, and boy, 1 year old, plus dog and cat is looking forward to a caring, experienced and independent Granny Aupair, ideally for a longer period. Leonie goes to school until around 15:00, little Finn is still at home.

The family is planning on a move to the beautiful city of Salzburg very soon. Now they live in a large house in a rural area – the Granny can choose between a room on the ground floor or one in the loft. The travel costs will be taken over completely.
