Newsletter Grannies - Diverging from wellworn paths

Dear Grannies,

Exploring new regions far from beaten tourist tracks and package tours. Enjoying delicious local dishes in a family circle. Experiencing other cultures and daily life close up. Not only young people, more and more of the “older generation” would like to get to know other countries away from tourist strongholds - with joint activities in your free time and shared meals or excursions. People, sights and nature can be encountered in a much more intensive and authentic way.

Granny Aupairs also get to discover different locations from a totally different side far from the conventional tourist attractions, they meet people from all walks of life with diverse interests and cultures. And still have a meaningful task: As an au pair granny they relieve families for instance by taking over the school run, supporting with learning another language or the mother tongue abroad or just being a companion to elderly people.

Maybe the two families shown below, will get you in the mood to try out something new. And many more families can be found on our online community

Best summery wishes from

Urgently looking for a Granny in Spanish Catalonia

Barcelona, Spain's second largest city attracts visitors with its numerous sights, shopping opportunities and beautiful beaches.  Not far from the Catalonian capital you can find the small town of Santa Maria de Palautordera located at the foothills of the Biosphere reserve of the Montseny massif, but also only 30 minutes from a beach.

Here a small family of four with daughter nearly 4, and son aged 1 (user name Lucia Lutfiya) is urgently looking for a loving experienced, ideally Englishspeaking temporary grandma as soon as possible to give the mother a hand, as the father is mostly away for work until August. Little Leonor goes to pre-school until 3 p.m., baby Aaron would need the Granny to take care of him some mornings. The family is planning on travelling within Europe in August and would be happy for the Granny to accompany them.

They are also looking for a Granny as from September. A nice room in a spacious apartment will available for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

(two daughters, 19 and 7 and two sons 15 and 11 plus cat) are looking forward to welcoming an active, experienced temporary grandma to give the parents a hand, especially with the younger two children from the end of August. The oldest daughter is a university, the younger children are at school until the afternoon.

The Granny will be provided with a large room with her own bathroom in a spacious house. Travelling expenses will be covered in part.

15 years of Granny Aupair - 15 wonderful stories that we would like to present to you in the course of our anniversary year. Several thousand Grannies have travelled to over 50 countries and many have had wonderful experiences - like Granny Hilke:

"Happy that we  met this way"

I'm so lucky again with "my" family! I am looking after two adorable twin girls here, take them swimming, to gymnastics and to playgroup.

We've travelled a lot together to beautiful little places, to Bern's local mountain, the Gurten, and of course are often in Bern.

Switzerland is a marvellous place!

Like me, my family is very grateful and happy that we met this way!
