The days are finally getting longer again and the sun is putting in more of an appearance!  Time to get out of the house again, get some fresh air and maybe even go out into the world - and surpass yourself in the process. Spring is a time of renewal, everything is sprouting, growing and flourishing. Perhaps you also feel an increasing desire for change, for renewal? Travelling to other cultures or surroundings is always also a journey to oneself. Even at over 50, you can still discover new sides to yourself.

Today we would like to introduce you to four  families from near and far who would like to welcome their loving temporary grandma as a new family member in the near future or a little later in the year. You can find more families looking for support in our online community

Picturesque West of Scotland  

Nestled between forests, hills and moors in the west of Scotland lies the country's largest lake, the idyllic Loch Lomond. Close to these wonderful surroundings, a granny-experienced family of six (two boys 7 and 5 and 1 year old twin girls) with the user name FlorenceG would like to welcome their next experienced, nature-loving temporary grandma. The Granny should have a driving licence and be able to help mostly with the two older boys.

On the two days, on which the mother works (from home), a nanny looks after the twins. The two older boys go to school or nursery until the afternoon, so the Granny would have plenty of time to herself to explore the picturesque countryside. Glasgow is also not far away.

The Granny will be provided with a nice room with a private bathroom in a large house in a rural setting. All travelling expenses will be covered.

Companion needed on the Côte d’Azur 

A wide blue sky, beautiful sea and, in the hinterland, the Maritime Alps and the Massif des Maures, plus the famous cities of Cannes, Nice and Antibes, which line up like pearls along the coast: You can find all this on the French Côte d'Azur.

In the pottery town of Vallauris between Cannes and Antibes, a granny-experienced international multilingual family (username Noa) this time around is looking for a companion from the end of April (and especially for the period between mid-June and September) for the family's English-speaking, quiet grandpa, who is unfortunately suffering from dementia.

Ideally the Granny would be someone, who is familiar with the illness and enjoys cooking. A carer comes regularly, it is purely a companion role, where the Granny would also have plenty of time to explore the beautiful area. A nice room in the grandfather's flat 800 metres from the family home in the city centre is waiting for the Granny. Travelling expenses will be covered in full for longer stays, otherwise the are negotiable.

USA: Life between West- and East Coast 

On the exciting west coast of the USA, natural landmarks, the thundering Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as all the other fantastic sights that San Francisco has to offer, await you! But you could also explore the wonderful beaches of the south-east coast of the States in South Carolina in summer.

A Romanian-American soon-to-be family of five (username Alexa F.) with currently two daughters (4 and 1) and a baby from November plus dog, is based in San Francisco but spends the summer months in a beach house in South Carolina and is looking forward to having a temporary grandma, who also likes to cook, accompanying them on their adventures.

Lily and Caroline go to (Mandarin-speaking) pre-school and kindergarten until the afternoon, so the Granny would have plenty of time to discover the exciting ‘Flower Power City’. In the summer months, the children spend most of the day at a summer camp, but the mother is also happy to have company as the father is away on business a lot.

A nice room with a private bathroom in a large house in the city centre is provided. All travelling expenses will be covered.

Historic town in South-West Germany  

You can find the historic city of Aachen with its beautiful old town and the soaring cathedral on the border triangle of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. With winding streets and monuments, Germany’s westernmost city has a unique flair.

Here a family of six (user name Annetty) with 17 year old daughter and three sons (15, 13 and 7) would welcome some support from a Granny Aupair, who maybe also likes cooking, for their busy household. The children all go to school until the late afternoon, and then with for instance English or Spanish homework would be needed.

A large own area with private bath in a big house in the suburbs of the town is available for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

Not only you as Grannies, but also our families have been enthused about the concept for over 15 years. Nevertheless,  irritations arise from time to time, for example regarding working hours and tasks. There are sometimes exaggerated expectations on both sides.
