The new year  plus good intentions are still brand new. Perhaps you've already got the travel bug and would like to get started as a Granny right away? Then we've got just the thing for you: all around the world, from the exotic Indian Ocean to Europe, the USA, "Down Under" and South America, numerous new families are now looking for a loving temporary grandma to support them with advice and assistance this year – we are briefly introducing four of them below.

Garden City Down Under  

The Australian capital Canberra is known as a green and relaxed metropolis, which is not called the "Garden City" for nothing. Here you will find extensive natural areas combined in the Canberra Nature Park. There are also numerous sights and tourist highlights, art and culture, interesting shops and a lively nightlife waiting to be discovered.

Near the capital a family of five (username: The Al-Ani's) with three children (two girls, one boy aged between approx. 3 and 16) who have recently returned to Australia are looking for an open and flexible temporary grandma with a driving licence, who may also enjoy cooking and who will support the family in "settling back in". The two older children Ann and Shams go to school until the afternoon, little Sophia will attend kindergarten a few days a week, so the Granny would have enough time to explore the interesting neighbourhood and/or take a language course.

The Granny will be provided with a room in a large house on the outskirts of the city. Travelling expenses will be covered in part.

Picturesque West Scotland  

Nestled between forests, hills and moors in the west of Scotland lies the country's largest lake, the idyllic Loch Lomond. Close to these wonderful surroundings, a family of six (two boys 5 and 4 and expected twins) with the user name FlorenceG would like to welcome an experienced, nature-loving temporary grandma from around May. The Granny should have a driving licence and be able to help with the two older boys (or with the babies if she prefers).

The two older boys go to school or nursery until the afternoon, so the Granny would have plenty of time to herself to explore the picturesque countryside. Glasgow is also not far away.

The Granny will be provided with a nice room with a private bathroom in a large house in a rural setting. All travelling expenses will be covered.

In the Heart of Europe   

The small kingdom of Belgium on the North Sea coast delights visitors from all over the world with delicious waffles and chocolate as well as medieval churches and inspires with its mix of dynamic, cultural diversity. The capital Brussels offers many sights - including the Grande Place, Atomium, Manneken Pis and many beautiful streets to stroll through.

In the municipality of La Hulpe, south-east of Brussels, on the Silver River in Walloon Brabant, an English-Swiss family of five (user name Sebastien) with two boys (7 and 3) and a girl (5) is looking for their next experienced, empathetic temporary granny as from September. The Granny should  ideally be English-speaking. The two older children go to school until the afternoon and help is mostly needed for the youngest.

A nice large room in a spacious house in a rural setting will be made available to the Granny. The travel costs will be covered in full.

Breathtaking ancient city in Northwest England

The historic town of Chester in the northwest British county of Cheshire lives and breaths history. Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings. 

Here a small family (father and 3 year old son) with the user name Ebbe ist looking for support from a flexible, loving Granny Aupair, who does not mind helping with housework a bit. The little boy goes to nursery until 1 in the afternoon. A room with private bath in a large house on the outskirts is waiting for the Granny.

Search with heart and mind - before you definitely confirm your stay with a family, you should agree on the essential requirements for your time together. That way, there will be no surprises later on and both sides will know what you are getting into. Don't forget: the families will be relying on you once you have made a commitment!
