Dear Reader, dear Ladies,

In the past, it was often the case that several generations lived under one roo. If the parents had to work, the grandparents looked after the little ones. Unfortunately, things are often different nowadays: Employees have to become more and more flexible in order to get ahead in their jobs - but the fact that this also requires adaptable childcare is a real problem, especially for single parents.

As a Granny Aupair, you can help families with childcare in a very flexible way. Not only do you help look after the children, but you are also integrated into the family as a temporary grandma. Parents can relax and take care of their job while knowing that the little ones are in good hands: As a Granny, you can conjure up delicious meals, help with learning, play, sing, do crafts and romp with the little ones, comfort and cheer them up, go for walks and much more. In short, as a woman with a wealth of life experience who is no stranger to children's problems - from painful teething in toddlers to broken hearts in teenagers - you fill a huge gap in many families, just like a real grandma would.

At the moment, many families – in Europe and around the World are looking for a lovely Granny in the near future or for next year to support them with advice and assistance - even on a temporary basis. We will introduce you to three of them below. And you can find many more families in our community (click here).

Best wishes from

Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair-Team

Picturesque five-lake region in Bavaria

The five lake region (Fünfseenland) around Starnberg and the Ammersee  is about 30 minutes by car from the Bavarian capital of Munich. The marvellous landscapes, despite being close to the city, and the many unspoilt moors, hamlets and spots make it easy to forget everyday life.

In the small community of Frohnloh, a family of three with the user name Wildeblume with a boy aged 11 and a girl aged 8 plus a dog are looking for a friendly and warm temporary grandma to give mum a helping hand. Two years ago, the family's father became a very serious care case and lives in a care home nearby. Both children go to school until the early afternoon.

The Granny is provided with a nice room with her own bathroom in a large house in a rural setting. In her profile, the mother writes: "I need a Granny Aupair who has both feet on the ground and can help my children, strengthen them and give me a helping hand." All travelling expenses will be covered.

Historic town in the heart of Germany

Divided into upper and lower town, the historic town of Marburg in the middle of Germany has a charming old town with a medieval ensemble of haf-timbered houses and historic churches. SItuated in a wonderful region full of castle ruins, mills, stately homes and churches there is a load to be discovered.

Here a  doctor’s family  of four (user name AnneW) with two sons (5 and 3) is looking for a loving, experienced temporary Granny as from Mid-January. The mother is moving to Marburg with the boys for a new job, with the father having to stay in Bavaria for the moment (and will be in Marburg at the weekends).

Both boys go to kindergarten until the early afternoon, so the mother would mostly need support in the afternoons and from time to time in the evening/ at night. A lovely large room with a private bath in a big house in the outskirts is waiting for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

Swiss City of Culture

Cosmopolitan flair meets living traditions. World-famous museums and a young art scene, a beautiful old town and the river Rhine inviting you to stroll along its banks -  Basel in Switzerland has all this to offer.

In the nearby municipality of Dornach, this very granny-experienced family of three (user name matithe) with 13-year-old daughter and dog Luna would like to welcome their next animal-loving temporary grandma, who ideally also likes to cook (no prerequisite), from beginning of April until the end of July. Marie-Therese goes to school until the afternoon, where the Granny would also have to pick her up occasionally.

During the day, the Granny would have enough time to explore the beautiful area around Dornach with its many hiking trails and old castles and naturally the city of Basel. A nice room with its own bathroom in a large two-storey flat with a garden on the outskirts of the city is available for the Granny. Travel costs will be covered in full.
