Newsletter Grannies - Escaping the Novemberblues

Dear Ladies,

Are you looking with trepidation towards the coming grey of late autumn and winter? Are you longing for continuous sunny days, constant warm temperatures and blue skies, or perhaps simply for different surroundings?

If you are already gripped by the travel bug and would like to start as a Granny sooner rather than later, then we might have the right thing for you here: Various families around the world are looking for a loving temporary grandma in the near future or even for next year, who will support them with advice and assistance. We would like to introduce some of them to you below.

Besides these families, there are many other families in Europe and worldwide waiting for their good soul who can support them with their life experience and competence. Take a look at the long list on our online community.

Best wishes

Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair-Team

California Dreamin'

On the exciting west coast of the USA, natural landmarks, the thundering Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as all the other fantastic sights that San Francisco has to offer, await you!

Here in this fascinating Californian city, an American-Irish family of four (user name JulieOD) with two daughters (5 and 1 years old) are looking for their next open and spontaneous Granny Aupair from January. Two older children, but not living at home, are also part of the family. Little Molly goes to pre-school until the afternoon, so the Granny would also have time to explore the exciting surroundings and/or do a language course.

A large room with private bathroom in a big house in the centre in the Noe district is provided. Travel costs will be covered in part.

English Country Feeling

Just a stone's throw from London, but feeling a thousand miles away from the hustle and bustle of the capital, you can find the county of Surrey with its beautiful rolling countryside and extensive forests. The small town of Caterham is around 60 kilometres from central London.

From the end of March, a family of five (username: AnyaP) with three sons (8, 6 and 2) is looking for a loving, culturally interested Granny Aupair to look after the youngest. The two older sons are home-schooled by their mother.

A nice room with private bathroom in a large house on the outskirts of the town is waiting for the Granny. The travel costs are covered in full.

Tips from our much travelled Granny Marion:

  • I make sure that the au pair idea is prevalent, i.e. it is a give and take, me-time is also important.
  • You have to get involved with other educational approaches and food cultures and not stick to your own standards. I also read up on the culture beforehand and learn a few words in the foreign language.
  • It is important for me to build up a network outside the family, e.g. in the children's educational institutions, on city tours or in digital networks
