Newsletter Families - Not just wishful thinking: Several Generations under one roof

Dear Families,

Father, mother, children, grandma, grandpa - and all living together under one roof: in many parts of the world this form of living is quite unusual nowadays, but many families and also older people would prefer it. This is shown by figures from the opinion research institute YouGov, which surveyed 2,000 German citizens on the subject. According to them, 44 percent would like to live together with several generations. The advantages are obvious: flexible childcare, shared experiences, learning from each other and much more. For many families, however, this remains a pipe dream, because often the family's grandparents live far away or, unfortunately, are no longer alive.

With a Granny Aupair in a family's home, multi-generational living comes within reach: A temporary Granny, not only looks after the children, but is also another family member. Parents can relax and take care of their jobs while knowing that their offspring is in good hands.

Below we present three of our Grannies who would like to support a loving family soon or even a little later in the year. Besides these many other Grannies on our online community are waiting for a lovely family to help out with their life experience and competence.

Very best wishes from

Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair team

Experienced and versatile: Granny Mari

Granny Mari (username Marion67) is mainly interested in families from English-speaking countries whom she can support from the end of November. The 55-year-old bilingual (Arabic and German) German teacher and translator loves cooking, hiking and music, among other things.

The mother of three adult children is looking forward to helping a family. In her profile she writes: „Raising three children of my own and working as a teacher (German) with children and teenagers; that has given me good knowledge and experience in raising children. I am willing - after consultation with the parents and together with the children - to clean up, cook, do homework, do crafts, teach German, etc.“

The 69-year-old psychologist has a wide range of interests, and especially likes handicrafts, culture, sports and travelling. The thoughtful and flexible mother of adult children is looking forward to getting to know the country, the people and the language again as a Granny. In her profile she writes: "(My expectations are) a give and take, trusting togetherness, new impressions and lasting memories."

Warm-hearted and reliable: Granny Margot

Granny Margot (user name: Margot M.) would like to help out a family as from the beginning of October. The 67-year-old former insurance saleswoman and businesswoman has been working as a homework tutor in a primary school for several years. The sporty Granny loves games, culture, reading and swimming.

The mother of a grown-up son is also very fond of animals, especially dogs and cats. "Since I love to travel and want to make a positive contribution to the world, I decided years ago that the best way to do this would be to show my grandchildren or other children what I can do. I want to get to know the country and its people, and that's not possible on normal holiday trips."

If you do not enter a start date for when you would like to welcome a Granny, or the date is in the past, the Grannies will assume that you have found one and might be confused. Even if you have already  found a Granny, we would like to ask you to change the date in your profile accordingly. Please also let us know briefly by email or phone who will be joining you and from when.
