Dear Mrs Hansen,

You are probably used to receiving greetings from different countries and are therefore not surprised to read from me.

We spoke on the phone in spring and I told you that I had found a family in Egypt, in Cairo. My plan was to go there for 3-5 months in early July. Unfortunately, I had to go to hospital unexpectedly and had an operation in July. The plan was postponed, not cancelled! I kept in touch with the family all this time and now I am in Cairo from 14 October, probably until February-March 2023. The family is very nice, I was welcomed very warmly and as a Granny I am just part of the family, not the staff. I have not yet been able to explore the country and the area, but will definitely do so: visit the many sights and see the country from the "non-tourist" perspective.

I look after a 4-year-old girl, she attends German kindergarten and is due to go to German school next year. You reported about this family and Granny Karin in your September newsletter. Unfortunately, Karin could not come here in autumn and we simply swapped, Karin will come to Egypt from March.

I wanted to give you feedback long ago and yesterday the documentary was on TV... So I quickly knew what I would do in my free time today. I still think it's great to get to know new people and countries in this way and I really appreciate your commitment and support.

We, some women, stayed in touch after the seminar in Hamburg in November 2021. Christa always told us about her experiences and continued to encourage us not to postpone plans and dreams too far.

The world is incredibly diverse and fascinating. You never stop learning and are allowed to be curious at any age. Take courage!
