We are very pleased – the Granny Aupair community is growing continuously! From Australia to the USA and the Cayman Islands up to European countries families are looking for a loving temporary Granny to give them a hand. In order to make your search quickly lead you towards your dream destination, we want to give a few useful tips we have collected in our seven years experience.

1. The best thing is to let yourself be inspired by all offers! Do not pay too much attention to the individual country. Ultimately, the people you go to are more important.
2. If you like the look of families but their entries, like length of stay and date of arrival do not match your wishes, send them a contact request anyway as often the families are looking for “follow-up” Grannies. Many things are negotiable and asking questions is free!
3. As long as you can see the families’ profiles you can contact them, even if some of their entries seems out of date.
4. When you have sent a contact request, you need a bit of patience. Often it takes a few days or even weeks until the families respond. The families are very busy or collect requests at first, before they answer.
5. Search with heart and mind! Before accepting a family definitely, you should have talked about important details and requirements of your time as an au pair. Thus there will be no unwelcome surprises later on and both sides know what they are engaging in.
6. Find detailed information about your country of destination and its people – especially if you are interested in exotic countries.
7. Please remember that you are on a private trip as a Granny and are subject to the visa requirements of the respective countries.

The more flexible you are the quicker you can say: „I’m off”

Near Paris

On the edge of the Seine Valley and near the Forêt Domaniale de Marly-le-Roi, a woodland with numerous hiking trails which cover several kilometers, lies Fourqueux. The town is only 40 minutes from the middle of Paris per city train. Here an international family (User name: FamilleAIGLE) with three boys (aged 9,7 and 5) and a cat are looking for a loving and calm temporary Granny as soon as possible. The boys go to school until the afternoon each day (except Wednesday), so that the Granny would have time to discover the surroundings or visit a language course. A lovely room with a private bath in a large house on the outskirts is waiting for the Granny. The travel costs are taken over in part.

In the heart of Europe

Castles, mountains a lively capital and a wonderful wine country! Luxemburg in the middle of Europe has a lot to offer. The town of Kehlen is near the capital. Here an international family (user name: smsh) with 3 children (girls 11 and 9, Boy 7) is looking for a loving temporary Granny as from August, preferably for a longer period  to help with looking after the youngsters. The children are normally at school until the afternoon so the Granny would also have time to herself. A large own area with a private bath in a Large house is available for the Granny. The travel costs are taken over completely.

Tip: Children’s First Aid

As a Granny Aupair, you have to deal with young children in most cases. To make you feel more confident, why not complete a "Children’s First Aid" course? Here you will be able to revive your First Aid knowledge with a special focus on children. You can find courses for instance at the Red Cross or St. Johns Ambulance. 

 

Granny Sprachenclub (Language Club)

Do you prefer to learn a language intensively? Do you want to do this abroad and in direct contact with the locals? Due to the cultural influence you will be able to learn more actively and multi-faceted. If this sounds attractive, the Granny Sprachenclub (language club) is the right thing for you. To make this exciting experience easier for you, we have sourced partner language schools in various countries to match your needs.

As a Club member you will then profit from our know-how for a year and can always seek advice. We will choose the right language school for you from the various language trips on offer. The compulsory reservation, payment etc. is then arranged directly with the respective school.
