Dear Ladies,

For a long time scientists assumed that the development of the brain is completed hen reaching the adult age and that we only “deteriorate” mentally during the further course of our lives. But far from it! Studies now show that new nerve connections are formed by learning processes even in advanced age. In order to keep the mind fit, however, the obligatory crossword puzzle or brainteasers are not enough. Rather, it is more about looking for new and complex experiences. New tasks, new projects bring us to a whole new performance capacity on a mental level. 

A very special challenge is also offered by Granny Aupair: getting to know a new culture, meeting new people or learning another language! And this in a family, as a companion or in a social project.

Thus we frequently receive messages from Grannies, like Uschi (68), who was a companion in  South Africa: “I have become a totally different person, I am painting again, I have lots of energy once more“, wrote Uschi (68) who was a companion in South Africa. Others call Granny Aupair a veritable fountain of youth. Nature and History 

Impressive castles, magnificent monasteries, exciting museums and stunning nature – all this can be found in the district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria. The Starnberger Lake and the cities of Augsburg and Donauwörth are very close by. Here in the municipality of Muenster, this family of five (username Julienne) is looking for a loving replacement Granny for the three children (girls 13 and 9, boy 4) as soon as possible. If the Granny wants to join the family at the beginning of August, she could also go on holiday to Denmark and Poland. The two girls go to school until the early afternoon, the little boy is at home like his mother. The Granny is provided with a nice room in a large house in rural surroundings. Travel expenses are covered in full.

Chocolates and Fries 

Grand Place, Atomium, beautiful alleys, delicious chocolates and fabulous "frites". These are only some of the pleasures you can enjoy in Brussels. Europe's "capital" combines art and culture, shopping and enjoyment in one. Here a family of four (username: Julia K.) with a five year old boy and a two year old girl is looking for a cheerful and experienced Granny Aupair with driving licence as from September. The children go to the kindergarten or crèche until the afternoon, so Granny would have plenty of time to explore the exciting surroundings and take a language course. A beautiful large room with its own bathroom in the centre of the metropolis awaits the Granny. Travel expenses are covered in full.

Advice from Granny Anke

Our Granny Anke sent us a list of advice which you can find on our homepage. Among other things she writes that you should find out if suggestions for improvements are welcome. You are only accompanying the family for a short time and principally should not question established rules, even if you yourself would do things differently. To give other Grannies advice however is a bit difficult, writes Anke, as everyone has his or her own ideas and expectations. Her advice would be: arrive in the family, get on the family boat, find a safe and beautiful place there and glide on light and easily.
