Dear Families,

Anyone with grandparents in the immediate vicinity, who like to take care of the grandchildren, can count themselves lucky. But what if this is not the case? It is already enough that mothers are often disadvantaged when they return to the working world; They should not also have to worry about childcare the whole day. And here a Granny Aupair comes into play: parents can be 100 percent sure that they will fulfill their task with reliability and pleasure. Our grannies look forward to a meaningful task and being together with children. They want to draw on their wealth of experience and support young families.

Temporary Grandmother

There are a lot of reasons why women decide to become a Granny Aupair: They would all like to have grandchildren. But what if the Granny’s children live with the grandchildren at the other end of the world or prefer to focus on their career? Many of the women are widowed or divorced, and any plans to spend the lovely years following retirement with their husbands have disappeared into smoke. But this is not the age in which a woman's hands just rest on her lap, visiting embroidery circles and going to bed at nine o'clock!

It is a wonderful age, with both feet firmly on the ground, where one is self-assured and able to estimate ones energy and strength precisely. An age in which one can be the perfect grandmother – be it for one’s own children or for another family.  At the moment around 70 Grannies are looking for a nice family to support.

Humorous and patient

Granny Christiane (user name Chris011255), who enjoys cooking and baking, would like to travel preferably to an Englishspeaking country as from July 2017. The 61 year old former legal practitioner has various experience in childcare, for instance as a homework help or as training sponsor and has already lived with families abroad a few times. The sporty Granny is open for new things, likes travelling and wants to get to know new countries. In her profile she writes: "Being together with children gives me a lot of pleasure and it is a good feeling to see how the children develop."

Helpful and experienced

Granny Elke (user name omiaufzeit) is also looking forward to supporting a family for two months, as from July 1st, for instance during the long summer break, preferably in an English- or French-speaking country. The sporty Granny has been working with children for a long time as a speech therapist. The 62 year old mother of adult children would love to participate in family life with her good experiences. She is looking forward to increasing her knowledge of languages and at the same time getting to know the country and its people.

Please bear in mind that our Granny Aupairs need a bit more time to prepare than a young aupair, as they have to see to a bit more at home during their stay than “spring chickens” where the parents still take care of "house and home". Naturally there are also grannies, who can spontaneously leave everything to travel into the distance. In general, however, it is advisable to look for a Granny Aupair in time, so that both sides have enough time to prepare for the new "adventure".

• Everything further you can discuss directly and personally with the selected Grannies. As in the end the new family member has to fit in with you and not with us.
• If the chemistry and everything else is right, your temporary Granny can arrive!
