Dear families,

In many countries, it will not be long now before the long summer break or it has already begun. Families around the world are looking forward to spending a few days or weeks with their children, going on trips, going on holiday or simply relaxing. Holidays are a great time for children – and for parents too, when they do not have to work. But if allocated leave is already used up or if other obligations are pending, holiday planning becomes difficult.  

Bridging the many weeks or even months without school presents many parents with a truly almost unsolvable problem. In addition, the period of time after school holidays when school starts again is a stressful undertaking for many of our families, where they are already looking for support.  

How helpful it would be to have a couple of extra hands in the house to assist in the time off school and in the stressful back-to-school time. Our temporary Grannies are experts in childcare, play, craft, sing and bake with your children and have a lot of ideas about how the holidays should be filled with activities. With an au pair Granny you always know your children in good hands! 

The "Granny-Aupair" system is based on the exchange idea. Families thus receive the support they so urgently need, and the temporary grannies have a task where they can use their rich experience and which gives them pleasure. Many Grannies state that they feel rejuvenated and energized by this purpose. And both sides experience a broadening of the horizon when strangers become friends.

At the moment around 80 Grannies, for instance from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Mexico, Italy and France are looking for a meaningful occupation in a nice family. Open and communicative: Granny Ursi

 

Granny Ursula (username Omi Ursi 1946) is looking forward to supporting a family, preferably in English or French speaking countries, from July 1st. The 72-year-old former administrator already gained a lot of au pair experience as a young girl and would like to repeat this now. The sporty grandmother of two adult granddaughters likes to read and is interested in art and culture as well as in other people and countries. In her profile, she writes: "As a loving "substitute grandmother" interested in new challenges, I would like to get involved in a family with child/children (or with single parents). I expect a lot of new encounters and experiences with people from other countries and cultures".

Sociable and experienced: Granny Ursula 

And another Granny Ursula (username: Ursula L.) would like to support a family in Europe, preferably in Spain (mainland or islands) or in Switzerland, as from mid August. The 74-year-old former educator and child care worker and passionate grandmother of five grandchildren loves cooking and working with children. In her youth, the sporty Granny already spent a year as a "trained" nanny in England. 

The mother of three adult children writes in her profile: "I hope to have good teamwork with the parents of my protégés. I would very much like to refresh my basic knowledge of English and Spanish and expand it further, so a family with children between 2 and 12 years and the possibility of a language course would be just the right thing for me".

Due to current reasons, as it repeatedly leads to confusion on the part of the Grannies:  Please be sure to keep your profile up to date. If you have found a Granny, please change the date from when you are looking for a Granny under "Profile settings". You can also deactivate and reactivate your profile at any time during your membership.  

The duration of your stay can be arranged individually with Granny. Please keep in mind, however, that the Granny undertakes a private trip as a tourist and is bound by the visa regulations of your country. Most Grannies wish to stay between 2 and 12 months.

• Everything further you can discuss directly and personally with the selected Grannies. As in the end the new family member has to fit in with you and not with us.
