Newsletter Grannies - Grandchildren keep you young
Dear Reader, dear Grannies,
Grandchildren keep you young - everyone who has them knows that. This has also been scientifically confirmed in the Berlin Ageing Study (BASE)! Grandparents live longer when they take care of their grandchildren. 500 senior citizens were observed for 20 years. Some looked after their grandchildren, others did not. The result: grandparents who look after their grandchildren have a lower risk of dying early. And that certainly also applies to caring for „host“ grandchildren!
Those who also meet up regularly with other grandparents, parents and their children and are more sociable improve their social activities - another plus point for prolonging their lives. However, the study also warns against overdoing it. Anyone who takes on too much with their grandchildren - whether own or not - risks throwing their stress levels off course. And then there is a risk of being overwhelmed, which in turn has a negative effect. To prevent this happening as a Granny Aupair take a look at our FAQs and tips for Granny Aupairs on our website.
At the moment, various families from near and far are looking for a loving temporary grandma to support them with advice and assistance. We are introducing you to some of our long list below. You can also find many other families on our online community
Best wishes from

Fiesta Mexicana
In the centre of Mexico, at an altitude of 2,200 metres in a valley surrounded by gigantic mountain ranges, you can find the country's capital, Mexico City. The ‘sun of Mexico’, enriched with a huge cultural diversity, is considered a megalopolis, and yet each ‘colonia’ has its own characteristics, like a small village.
Here, an international granny-experienced German-English-Mexican family of five (user name LiaFain) with 2 daughters, 5 years and currently 1 year, and a 3-year-old son, would be very happy to welcome their next experienced, loving, temporary grandma, mainly for the two older children (little Zoe has a Nanny). Emma and Oli go to kindergarten until the afternoon, so the Granny would have enough time to attend a language course and/or explore the exciting surroundings. The family lives in a beautiful green neighborhood of the metropolis.
A nice room with its private bath in a spacious house awaits the Granny. Travelling expenses will be covered in part.

Flower Power City
On the exciting West Coast of the USA, natural landmarks, the thundering Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as all the other fantastic sights that San Francisco has to offer, are waiting for you!
Here in this exciting Californian city, a granny-experienced American-Irish family of four (user name JulieOD) with two daughters (aged 6 and 2) are looking for their next open, fit and spontaneous Granny Aupair ideally from April – but they are also looking for someone from August. Two older children, who do not live at home, are also part of the family. Little Molly goes to school until the afternoon, so the Granny would mainly be taking care of little Rua, who will probably be going to nursery as from September.
A large room with a private bathroom in a large house with a garden and hot tub in the centre of the lively Noe district will be provided. Travelling expenses will be covered in part.

15 years of Granny Aupair - 15 wonderful stories that we would like to present to you in the course of our anniversary year. Several thousand Grannies have travelled to over 50 countries and have had wonderful adventures such as Granny Anne:
‘The best thing I could have done’
‘I registered with you for 3 months last year and wanted to embark on an adventure as a Granny Aupair for 1-2 months.
In fact, I wasn't sure whether it would be feasible, as I was available for only a relatively short period of time.
At the end of January, I was actually contacted by a family from America. I accepted spontaneously and 1 week later I was on a plane to Arizona!!!
No time to plan or make any major preparations for the trip: Straight into the adventure! For 4 weeks.
That was the best thing I could have done. I had a lovely family :and a really sweet child (almost 2) and a dog to look after during the day. In my free time I was allowed to use the car and explored the Grand Canyon, Page, Zion etc. Everything worked out wonderfully and I went home smiling but also with a tear in one eye.
It was amazing! It was a GREAT experience and a wonderful adventure! Thank you for everything!!!!!
And if you would like to send us a few lines about your trip as a Granny Aupair we would love to hear from you!
