Newsletter Grannies - One Time is just the Beginning

Dear Ladies,

Our Granny Aupair concept has proven its worth: over 50 percent of our families and Grannies have now taken part several times. There are Grannies who have been on a dozen placements, and it is not uncommon for long-lasting friendships to develop between the temporary grandmas and ‘their’ families. Many families have already hosted two, three or even more „bonus Grannies“ and are always delighted to meet new people.

After all, both sides benefit: the Granny brings life experience, time and plenty of good advice. The families, in turn, give her an insight into a different way of life and culture, and let her share in the everyday life of a younger generation. It’s a rewarding exchange that enriches everyone involved.

Today, we’d like to introduce you to two families who have already had experience with Granny Aupair and are looking for another temporary grandma as well as a family who are keen to embark on the Granny Aupair adventure for the very first time. Many other families from near and far are also looking forward to welcoming a temporary Granny. Just take a look at our online community.

Very warm wishes

Your Granny Aupair-Team

Historical royal town in Île-de-France

On the banks of the River Orge, just 50 kilometres from Paris, you can find the former royal town of Dourdan in the Île-de-France region. With its historic monuments, medieval castle and idyllic natural landscapes, there is plenty to discover here.

From the end of February, a small family (mother and her nine-year-old son, plus a cat and horses), with the user name Annabelle Gr., would like to welcome their next loving, resourceful, animal-loving temporary grandma with a driving licence, who is happy to drive. The family would be delighted if the Granny could stay for at least four months to lend a hand to the mother.
The little boy goes to school four days a week until 4.30 pm; on Wednesdays, he is with his grandmother. A lovely room with a private bathroom in a spacious house in a rural setting awaits the Granny.

Natural paradise in South-West Germany

Nestled within a beautiful, wooded, hilly landscape lies the small town of Sankt Ingbert in south-west Germany, right on the French border. The whole town is also part of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, with its unspoilt nature and many historical sights.

As from April 2027 a family of four (user name: dfb1920) with two boys (aged eight and five) are looking for their next caring, experienced Granny Aupair, ideally to help out for three of three month periods in the next couple of years. (But Grannies wishing to come for just one of the periods are also very welcome). The two boys attend school and pre-school respectively, so the Granny would have plenty of time to herself, for example to attend a language course. The family also includes two teenagers who are there every other weekend.

A lovely room with a private bathroom in a large house in the suburbs awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

California Dreamin’

Just a little further north of the famous Golden Gate Bridge near San Francisco, nestled in the foothills of Mount Tamalpais, you can find  the small town of San Anselmo with its quaint shops, plenty of dining options, and wonderful outdoor and leisure activities – perfect for hiking enthusiasts.

Here, a small German-American family (mother and her 4-year-old son), with the user name Lanaland123, would like to welcome an experienced, nature-loving, flexible ‘bonus grandma’ – who also enjoys cooking – as a new member of the family. As the mother works as a model, she is away several times a month, meaning the Granny would be responsible for little Iam during those times. Other family members living nearby can also provide support. If circumstances allow, the Granny could also travel with them from time to time. The little boy attends a forest nursery one afternoon a week.

A lovely room in a spacious house in a rural setting awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

As long as the families’ profiles are visible, you can contact them, even if some of the details may seem out of date. If you find families interesting but their specifications – such as length of stay and arrival date – do not match your expectations, we recommend that you get in touch anyway. Often member families are looking for several Grannies in a row. Many things are negotiable, and it certainly costs nothing to ask!
