the long summer break is over, and for many families, everyday life is picking up speed again. Work schedules, school routines and free time all need to be reorganised. Until everyone has settled back into a new rhythm, life at home can be pretty hectic – especially when parents are juggling their careers, their children and the many demands of everyday life.

At times like these, many families wish they had a “temporary grandma ” by their side – someone to support them and make everyday life a little easier. Granny Aupairs bring valuable experience in childcare. They play, do crafts, sing and bake with the children, take them to school or preschool and pick them up again. Some also enjoy helping out with cooking or other small tasks around the home.

As a Granny Aupair you can be a wonderful source of support for the whole family. And it’s not uncommon for this special experience to develop into a lasting friendship between the family and their Granny Aupair.

Granny Aupair is based on the principle of reciprocity – true to the original spirit of the term “au pair”. Families receive support in their everyday lives, while Grannies have the opportunity to take on a role they are experienced in and genuinely enjoy.

Many Grannies tell us that spending time with children gives them new energy, a sense of purpose and the feeling of being young at heart. It’s a wonderful way to be there for a family while sharing experiences, affection and everyday life across generations. Scotland’s Picturesque East Coast

A spectacular coastline, magnificent castles, and breathtaking scenery—all this awaits you in the Fife region of Scotland. The small Victorian town of Newport-on-Tay is located directly on the River Tay, Scotland’s longest river, and very close to the city of Dundee.

As from April 2027 a small family (mother with 7-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son), whose user name is Helenc, is looking forward to welcoming a loving and experienced Granny Aupair as a new member of the family. Ideally with a driving license. 

Chloe is in school until 3:00 p.m., and little Ethan attends a playgroup three days a week until around 2:00 p.m., leaving the Granny plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings and/or take a language course.
The Granny will have a nice room with a private bathroom in a spacious apartment on the outskirts of town. Travel expenses will be fully covered.

English Country Feeling 

The historic village of Swanmore is located in the beautiful Meon Valley in the county of Hampshire in southern England. Surrounded by rolling hills, ancient forests, and the famous chalk landscape, you can enjoy typical English country life here. The port city of Southampton is also not far away.

Here a German-English family of four (user name: Nina H.) with two children (a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl) and a cat is looking for a warm, open-hearted, and reliable temporary grandma to join the family and provide some support to the parents. The little boy attends school until the afternoon; the girl is still at home.

A lovely room in a large house in a rural setting is available for the Granny. Travel expenses will be fully covered.

Virginia: On the banks of the Potomac

The charming town of Alexandria on the banks of the Potomac River offers a beautiful historic district, combined with a lively cultural scene. It is also close to the US-Capital of Washington D.C. with the White House, Capitol and its many museums.

In Alexandria a family of six - with two daughters, ages 4 and 1 and two sons ages 3 and currently 2 months old - with the user name EvaS. would love to welcome an experienced, patient, loving Granny Aupair, with a driving licence, to give the young parents a hand. Ideally the Granny could stay for six months. The two older children are at pre-school until midday.

A nice room with a private bathroom in a large house on the outskrits will be provided for the Granny. Travel expenses will be fully covered.

Rocky Mountain Country 

And further north across the country, Denver, the capital of Colorado, is waiting for you. With 300 days of sunshine, diverse neighborhoods, a thriving arts and culture scene and the Rocky Mountains on its doorstep, the vibrant outdoor city has a lot to offer.

In the lively suburb of Lakewood a family of four (user name Ian S.) with two boys (6 and 1) and a dog would love to have a loving, flexible temporary grandma with a driving licence as a new family member. The mother is a US-Congresswoman, and is in Washington D.C. a few days a week, the father works from home. Little Davis is in school until 2:30 p.m. each day, and little Sam at daycare until 5.30 p.m., so the Granny would have enough time to explore the exciting surroundings.

A lovely room with private bathroom in a large house on the outskirts is available for the Granny. The travelling expenses will be taken over in part.

It is important that the relationship is based on mutual trust rather than an employment contract. The host family and the “bonus grandma” should discuss and agree on the tasks and responsibilities involved beforehand.

When you first connect through the portal, make sure to clearly communicate your expectations and ask specific questions if anything is unclear — for example, about working hours, particular tasks, or the family’s daily routine.
