Dear Reader, dear Grannies,

Setting out on a journey often means crossing borders – literally and figuratively. Country borders are only the beginning of a long journey into a new phase of life.  Being in motion means moving forward. These are the experiences shared by most Grannies. Naturally their life and travel stories are always a bit different. But our Grannies have one thing in common: those who dared to set out were able to find themselves.

Once again we are happy to introduce you to two of our families who would like to welcome a temporary Granny as a new family member sooner or later. You can find many more families from all over the world on our online community

Natural Paradise in Spanish Catalonia

Barcelona, Spain's second largest city attracts visitors with its numerous sights, shopping opportunities and beautiful beaches.  Not far from the Catalonian capital you can find the small town of Santa Maria de Palautordera located at the foothills of the Biosphere reserve of the Montseny massif, but also only 30 minutes from a beach.

Here a small family of four with daughter nearly 4, and son aged 1 (user name Lucia Lutfiya) is looking for a loving experienced, ideally Englishspeaking temporary grandma as soon as possible to give the mother a hand, as the father is mostly away for work until August. Little Leonor goes to pre-school until 3 p.m., baby Aaron would need the Granny to take care of him some mornings.

A nice room in a spacious apartment will be provided for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

Coast of the Garden of England

Beautiful stunning gardens and estates, elegant eateries and rolling farms, meadows, vineyards and orchards can be explored in the socalled “Garden of England”, the county of Kent. On the coast of the county you can find the historical seaside town of Folkestone with its growing cultural and arts scene and only 1 hour by train from London. 

Here a small grannyexperienced family (mother and 2 boys 9 and 5) plus cat with the user name MissAmy would love to welcome their next outdoor-loving, flexible Granny Aupair as from August until around October. The mother works as a psychotherapist and musician, and is away on two evenings a week. In the summer holidays (in August) Bill and Jem are at home, so a bit more help would be needed. As from September they are in school again until the afternoon.

The family is moving to Folkestone in July and the Granny would have a large room with private bathroom belonging to large apartment with a garden in the town center.

It's best to be inspired by everything on offer! Don't pay so much attention to the country. Ultimately, the people you go to are more important. Once you have made a contact request, you probably need a bit of patience. It often takes a few days or even weeks for families to get back to you. The families are often quite busy or collect a few enquiries before they reply.
