Dear Reader, dear Grannies,

the long summer break has already begun in many countries and in other regions it will be starting soon. Families around the world are looking forward to spending a few days or weeks off with their children, going on excursions, going on holiday or simply relaxing. Holidays are a great time for children - and for parents too, if they don't have to work. However, if the holiday has already been used up or other commitments are pressing, holiday planning becomes difficult. And the time after the holidays, when all the organisation around the start of school or kindergarten is due, is also looming.

Many families would love to have experienced helping hands in the house who can support them during the school holidays and the following stressful time. Even if many families are looking for a Granny for longer, many are open to a temporary solution - for example during the vacation time. A good opportunity to perhaps get a taste of being a Granny. This week, we are once again introducing you to two lovely families who are looking forward to spending time with you very soon or later in the year. You can find many other families from all over the world on our online community.

Flower Power City 

Natural monuments, the roaring Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, plus the lovely wine hills of the Napa region and the concentrated technology of Silicon Valley. All of this can be found in the area around San Francisco Bay.

Here, in this exciting city of San Francisco on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, this international family of four (username torytwins) with a five-year-old twins couple plus dog and cat are looking for a loving, flexible Granny Aupair with a driving licence for the summer,  who ideally also speaks Spanish or Italian.

The children go to ‘Summer Camp’ during the holidays, which - like the (Spanish-speaking) pre-school - runs until 14:00. A nice room in a large house in the centre is provided for the Granny.  The travel costs will be covered in full.

Beautiful Loire Valley

In the heart of France lies the department of Indra et Loire with its marvellous wealth of castles. In the midst of picturesque hills, woods and valleys you can find the village of Nouzilly.

Here a musicians’ family of four (two boys 8 and 2 plus cat) with the user name Vannina are looking for an experienced and flexible temporary grandma with driving licence, who ideally likes to cook as from mid September. The boys go to school or pre-school until 16:00, so the Granny would have enough time to explore the lovely surroundings or visit a language course. A nice room with private bathroom in a large house in a rural setting is waiting for the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over completely.

Tip: Keep an open mind and never lose your sense of humour!

A very good tip from our Granny Marion, who has often been abroad as a Granny Aupair:

"For me, being a Granny Aupair is a wonderful opportunity to really immerse yourself in another culture, to take part in everyday family life, to belong. In my opinion, you can learn a lot. It ‘trained’ me in serenity!!! And it is very interesting to experience the way of life in another culture. My tip for Granny Aupairs: stay young at heart, dare to try new things, keep an open mind and never lose your sense of humour!"
