Dear Ladies,

have you always wanted to get involved where help is most needed? Or are you even a nurse, geriatric nurse, teacher, educator or do you know a lot about animals? Then our volunteer work is just right for you!

With your involvement in a project you can help directly and tangibly. A total of 14 social projects on four different continents – Europe, Africa, South America and Asia are waiting for you to put your knowledge into practice. Whether it's helping in an animal welfare project in France, supporting seniors in an old people's home in Namibia, assisting with lessons in an English-speaking school in Cambodia or aiding Indian women to lead a self-determined life – there's something for everyone.

Here are two examples of our projects where you can help with words and deeds: A new animal welfare project in France and the Cambodian school project. You can find more here or send us an e-mail to info@granny-aupair.com

Best wishes from

your Michaela Hansen und your Granny Aupair-Team

France: Help for traumatized animals

In this animal welfare project in the Haute-Vienne region in the centre of France, the helpers should be able to stay for at least two months. The tasks include walking and playing with the dogs, cooking for the animals and team members, cleaning the rooms, shopping and washing. Food and lodging are free. The project helps dogs and cats who have been neglected, who are ill or traumatised, who have been tortured, and who have had bad experiences with people or are in the last phase of their lives.

Namibian Wildlife Reserve

In this project the volunteers assist the Cambodian English teacher and can contribute their own project ideas to the lessons. The duration of the stay is at least three months. Teachers, educators or social workers, but also experienced housekeepers or ladies who have experience in craft or artistic professions are welcome. A good knowledge of English and fitness for travel in the tropics are also preferred.

Granny Marlies about her four social projects: "...am thankful that I had these great times"

Dear Mrs. Hansen, dear Granny Aupair team, after returning from my fourth assignment in social projects at the end of September, I would like to encourage others to dare something new. (...) My first assignment was in India, Jodhpur in 2011 in the Sambhali project. Since I am a designer for women's fashion, master craftswoman and cutting pattern directrice, I wanted to work in my profession and help women to help themselves. It was a great time, very labour-intensive, but everyone not only enjoyed it, but "my" women also learned a lot.

Then, in 2014, again for the usual three visa months, I was in Bolivia in the Aldea Padre Alfredo in the casa de madres where young, very young mothers live, who are taken in there with their babies and can stay until their 18th birthday. There I also organized the tailor's workshop, had machines repaired, provided material and everything that belongs to it. In Santa Cruz de la Sierra we had a lot of fun and joy in the workshop, mothers with babies, and at the end the girls organized a great fashion show for me and showed me everything they had worked and learned, from bags to clothes, trousers and Santa hats!

Then in 2016 I went to South Africa, Cape Town. This time it was three months in a retirement home and a total new experience for me. You can find more about Granny Marlies’ experiences as a Granny Aupair as well as other feedback from Grannies here

And if you also have something to tell about your time as a Granny we would be very happy to receive your report!
