In the past, it was common for several generations to live under one roof - or at least close to one another. Today, however, families are often spread across different cities, countries, or even continents. At the same time, many grandparents are leading active and independent lives, pursuing their own interests, travelling, and embracing new adventures. As a result, regular contact between grandparents and grandchildren is no longer something that can always be taken for granted.

Yet one thing remains unchanged: children greatly benefit from spending time with older caregivers. They gain not only attention and affection, but also valuable life experience, wisdom, and a unique perspective on the world that only an older generation can offer.

This is where Granny Aupairs make such a wonderful difference. For families who live far away from their own parents or grandparents, they often become cherished companions and trusted helpers in everyday life. They share their time, experience, patience, and warmth, bringing a special sense of calm and connection to family life.

Continental feeling in the English Channel 

Just off the coast of northern France lies the Channel Island of Jersey, which combines British charm with a continental flair. Here you can enjoy historic landscapes and sights, lively port towns, and wonderful beaches.

In the small town of St. Martin, a family of five (user name JessicaM5) - with two sons (ages 9 and 5), a daughter (age 7), plus dog - is looking forward to welcoming an experienced, loving temporary grandma with a driver’s license who is also interested in cooking.

The children are in school until the afternoon, so the Granny would have plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings and/or take a language course.

A lovely, spacious room with a private bathroom in a large house in a rural setting awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be partially covered.

Near London: On the Banks of the River Thames 

Near London on the north bank of the Thames lies the town of Grays in the Thurrock district of Essex. Close to a variety of riverside parks and forests, the area offers interesting historical sites as well as plenty of shopping opportunities. Plus, you can reach the exciting English capital in just 35 minutes by train.

In Grays, a four-person German-English family (user name Franziska Sch.) with two daughters (ages 4 and 2) would like to welcome a loving, experienced Granny Aupair as a new family member to help out the parents, who are currently expanding their self-employment.  Both girls attend preschool three times a week; starting in September, the older one will be attending school until the afternoon.

A nice room in a large house on the outskirts of town will be provided for the Granny. Travel expenses will be fully covered.

Culture and Nature in Switzerland 

In addition to castles and fortresses steeped in centuries of history, the Swiss canton of Aargau also offers a wide variety of hiking and biking trails through beautiful countryside.

In the small town of Widen, nestled between forests and lakes in the Limmat Valley not far from Zurich, a Swiss-Iranian grannyexperienced family of four (user name Mmna) and five-year-old twin boys is looking for their next loving, fit, and flexible temporary grandma with a driver’s license who also enjoys cooking, preferably for a longer period. The mother works three days a week, so support is needed primarily on those days. The two boys attend preschool in the mornings.

A lovely, spacious room in a large house in beautiful surroundings awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be partially covered.

It's best to draw inspiration from all the offers! Don't focus too much on the country. Ultimately, the people you are going to live with are more important. Once you have sent a contact request, you will need to be patient. It often takes a few days or even weeks for families to respond. The families are very busy or collect several requests before responding.
