The new year 2026 is still in its infancy – and with it comes the opportunity to begin new things with vigour, enthusiasm and good intentions. More exercise, healthier eating, learning a new language: all over the world, people make big plans at the turn of the year. Are you one of them?

Maybe you have decided to simply experience something new, to break out of your everyday routine – in a new environment, in another country, with a new family. Don't put this wish on the back burner. Take advantage of the energy of the new year!

If you want to put your good intentions into practice right away: many families are looking for a loving temporary grandma to join their family soon – or later in the year. With your life experience, you can enrich everyday family life and provide valuable inspiration. We are introducing four of these families below. You can find many more families from near and far in our online community.

Australia's cultural heart

Known for its European atmosphere and as “Garden City’ ideal for culture, shopping and as a starting point for day trips, Melbourne is considered Australia's cultural heart. Down Under's second largest metropolis, located on the Yarra River in the south-east of the continent, also impresses with its green parks and many sights.

In the Ferny Creek district, a family of four with the user name Karri, consisting of a son (3), daughter (currently 10 months old), plus dog and other pets, is looking for a loving, experienced temporary grandma with a driving licence to support the mother, who wants to return to part-time work. The little boy goes to nursery three days a week until early afternoon, while baby girl is still at home.

A large room in a spacious house on the outskirts of the city will be provided for the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in part.

City of Angels 

Hollywood glamour, a relaxed surfer vibe and cultural highlights are the hallmarks of Los Angeles, where every neighbourhood has its own charm.

In the northern, green neighbourhood of Encino in the San Fernando Valley, a German-American-Indian family (user name AnnaGu) with two sons, aged 6 and 4, and a daughter, aged 2, is looking for a loving, patient Granny Aupair.

All children attend school or nursery until 3 p.m., so the Granny would have plenty of time to explore the exciting surroundings and/or take a language course.

The Granny will be provided with a large room with en-suite bathroom in a spacious house in the centre of Encino. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

Land of Pyramids and Pharaohs  

As a city of contrasts, the Egyptian capital of Cairo combines the sights of an ancient municipality with the advantages of a vibrant modern metropolis.

Here an international doctor’s family of four (user name maggie.r) with a 6-year-old daughter and a baby boy who is currently two months old would like to welcome an experienced, responsible and loving temporary Granny.

The little girl goes to school until early afternoon, while the baby is still at home. A lovely room in a large flat in the city centre awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in part.

Canals, tulips and culture 

The ‘Venice of the North’ combines canals, coffee shops and world-famous museums: the Dutch metropolis of Amsterdam has an international flair and offers something for every taste.

As from January 19th a Spanish-Romanian family (user name: Flores) with a two boys (3 and 1) is looking for a mature, flexible temporary grandma preferably for a longer period to give the parents a hand.

Little Gabriel goes to Preschool until early afternoon, little Dinu is in crèche until 17:00 on 3 days, so the Granny would also have plenty of time to explore the exciting metropolis. The Granny will have a nice room in large apartment with garden in the city centre. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

It's best to draw inspiration from all the offers! Don't focus too much on the country. Ultimately, the people you are going to live with are more important. Once you have sent a contact request, you will need to be patient. It often takes a few days or even weeks for families to respond. Families are often quite busy or collect several requests before responding.
