Dear Grannies,

In many countries, plans are already being made for the period after the summer holidays: a new school year, perhaps a new school, starting nursery, and more. Balancing school, work, and leisure takes a lot of organisation – and when all these demands pile up, everyday life can quickly become stressful.

Many families dream of having a “temporary grandma” at home to help support the parents, especially during these busy times. Our Granny Aupairs are childcare experts: as a temporary grandma, you might play, do crafts, sing, and bake with the children, take them to and from school or kindergarten, or occasionally lend a hand in the kitchen. An au pair granny is an invaluable support for families – and often, these connections blossom into lifelong friendships.

Many Grannies say that this makes them feel rejuvenated and full of energy.

Granny Aupair is built on the principle of reciprocity, as the term “au pair” suggests. Families receive the help they urgently need, and you, as a temporary grandma, enjoy a role you are already experienced in and truly love.

Mystical land of fire and ice 

With its fascinating mix of mountains, volcanoes,  glaciers,  rivers, lakes and caves, Iceland is a true paradise for nature lovers. But wellness enthusiasts will also get their money's worth  thanks to the abundance of geothermally heated baths located on the island.

The small ‘capital of northern Iceland’, Akureyri, with its historic old town, is located at the end of the beautiful Eyjafjörður (island fjord), surrounded by steep mountains.

Here a small German-Icelandic family (mother and 1-year-old boy) with the user name Anna-Lizzy is looking for a loving, flexible, independent temporary grandmother with a driving licence to help out the mother, who works as a nurse, from October 15th – preferably for a longer period. Little Maddy goes to kindergarten until the afternoon, so the Granny would have plenty of time to explore the fascinating surroundings.

A nice  room in a large flat in a rural setting awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in part.

Flower Power or Salt Lake City? 

Natural monuments, the roaring Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, plus the lovely wine hills of the Napa region and the concentrated technology of Silicon Valley. All this can be found around San Francisco Bay.

Here, in the exciting city on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, this German-Dutch family of four (username Maximilian) with a son who is almost two years old, a baby girl (currently one month old) and a dog is looking for a loving, temporary grandmother with experience of small children who would also help out with the housework at bit from September/October.

Little Felix goes to nursery until late afternoon. The Granny will have a nice room with her own bathroom in a large house on the outskirts of the city. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

A few states further south-east you can find the vibrant, high-altitude capital of Utah, Salt Lake City, surrounded by the Great Salt Lake and the snow-capped peaks of the Wasatch Range.

Here, a doctor‘s family of four (username Sherron) with two children (a 3-year-old girl and a 7-month-old boy) plus a dog would like to welcome an active, nature-loving, flexible Granny Aupair with a driving licence as a new member of their family.

The mother occasionally travels on business. Both children attend preschool/nursery until the afternoon.

 A beautiful room with a private bathroom in a spacious house in the city centre awaits the Granny. Travel expenses will be covered in full.

Be sure to include engaging photos in your profile. Remember that often the whole family, including the children, decides on a Granny (and vice versa). Versatile photos in different contexts (e.g. with a pet, your own grandchildren, doing sports, on holiday) are certainly helpful here to get a first impression. Profiles without photos are rarely viewed.
