Newsletter Grannies - Wintering in other surroundings
Dear Reader, dear Grannies,
Are you looking with slight trepidation towards the coming grey and cold time after this rather inconsistent summer? Do you long for a bit of change, new surroundings and a different culture to liven up the winter time or to look forward to for next year?
Have you already been bitten by the travel bug and would you like to start off as a Granny right away? Then we have just the thing for you: Various families from North to South are looking for a loving temporary Granny or companion in the near future or next year to support them with advice and assistance or even with language learning. We are introducing you to some of them below.
In addition to these families, many other families around the world are waiting for their good soul who can support them with life experience and competence. Just take a look at the long list of families in our online community.
Very best wishes from
Your Michaela Hansen and your Granny Aupair-Team
Island Dream in the South Carribean
Located in the southern Caribbean Sea, the French overseas department of Guadeloupe enchants visitors with its dream beaches and rainforest. The Caribbean paradise of the Lesser Antilles is even part of the EU.
Here, a small French family (mum and currently 10-month-old son) with the user name Cécé is looking for support from a loving, experienced, temporary grandma with a driving licence to give the mother, who works as a university professor, a helping hand. The little boy goes to nursery on Wednesdays, but is otherwise at home.
The Granny will be provided with a nice room in a flat with a terrace in a rural setting near the small town of Petit-Bourg. All travelling expenses will be covered.

Farmstay in Down Under
Wild scenery, wild waterfalls and wild nature charactarize Walcha, in the North East of New South Wales in Australia. Located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane the country township is also renowned for being an art centre.

Belgian mansion near Brussels
The small kingdom of Belgium on the North Sea coast delights visitors from all over the world with delicious waffles and chocolate as well as medieval churches and inspires with its mix of dynamic, cultural diversity. The capital of Brussels offers many sights - including the Grande Place, Atomium, Manneken Pis and many beautiful streets to stroll through.
In a small mansion near the exciting Belgian metropolis, a granny-experienced international family of five (username Annikafamily) with 2 sons (8 and 4) and daughter (5) is looking for their next responsible, flexible, ideally Englishspeaking temporary Granny with a driving licence from the beginning of January to give the parents a helping hand.
The children are at school or kindergarten during the day until 15:00/16:00, so the Granny would have enough time for herself to explore the exciting neighbourhood and/or take a language course. A beautiful large room in a spacious little mansion in a park with animals will be made available to the Granny. All travelling expenses will be covered.

Tips from our well-travelled Granny Marion:
- I make sure that the au pair idea is prevalent, i.e. it is a give and take, me-time is also important.
- You have to get involved with other educational approaches and food cultures and not just stick to your own standards. It is also good to read up on the culture beforehand and learn a few words in the foreign language.
- It is important for me to build up a network outside the family, e.g. in the children's educational institutions, on city tours or in digital networks.
