Setting out on a journey often means crossing borders – literally and figuratively. Country borders are only the beginning of a long journey into a new phase of life. Being in motion means moving forward. These are the experiences that most Grannies share. Of course, their life and travel stories are always different. But the Grannies have one thing in common: those who dared to set out were able to find themselves.
Once again we are happy to introduce you to two of our families who would like to welcome a temporary Granny as a new family member or companion sooner or later. You can find many more families on our online community.

Homesitting and Help on the Swiss Border
The border town of Laufenburg is considered one of the southernmost towns in the Hotzenwald region of the Black Forest. The idyllic historic town on the Rhine offers a beautiful old center as well as countless excursion destinations near the water and in the forest.
20 minutes away, on the Swiss side, a lady (user name Marie-Therese) plus cat is looking for a Granny with a driving licence (and ideally her own car), preferably also with a partner/companion, to help her in the household/garden for approx. 10 hours per week from mid-May or later in the season. The Granny is offered a nice large holiday home in the Hochsal district of Laufenburg for the duration of her stay.

Beautiful South-West Germany
Cultural treasures, idyllic villages, vast forests and charming medieval towns characterise the two regions of Schönbuch and Heckengäu in Baden-Württemberg. The district of Böblingen near Stuttgart with the municipality of Weil der Stadt lies exactly between these two exciting areas.
In the small town of Weil der Stadt a family of three (user name Juliane W.) with a 1 year old boy is looking for a loving temporary grandmother with a driving licence preferably from the beginning of May - if only for a short period of time - to support the parents mainly in the afternoon. Little Jan goes to nursery school until the early afternoon. A lovely room with private bath in a big house in a rural area is awaiting the Granny. The travel costs will be taken over in part.

Our Tip:
It is important that the relationship is based on mutual trust and not on an employment contract. The host family and Granny Aupair should discuss any tasks expected of the Granny beforehand.
During your initial contact on the portal you should clearly present your expectations and in case of uncertainties, e.g. regarding working hours, exact tasks, daily routine, do not hesitate to ask specific questions.
